2024 marked an exciting launch of Natalia Mallory’s Contemporary Dance Company (NMCDC), a groundbreaking initiative dedicated to preparing dancers for the professional world of concert, collegiate, and commercial dance. This inaugural year laid the foundation for an innovative program that bridges the gap between training and professional experience.

Company Auditions

The journey began with our month-long audition process in 2024, designed to identify and nurture exceptional talent. This rigorous audition experience included:

  • Workshops led by industry professionals Ricky Palomino, Sasha Mallory, Geoff Alexander, and Artistic Director of NMCDC Natalia Mallory, providing invaluable insight into the demands of the professional dance world.
  • Submission of resumes and headshots, preparing dancers for real-world audition standards.

This comprehensive process allowed NMCDC to select a group of passionate and dedicated dancers who embody the artistry, discipline, and professionalism at the core of our company’s mission.

Natalia Mallory’s Contemporary Dance Company was founded with a clear purpose: to provide dancers with the tools, experiences, and mentorship needed to excel in the professional dance world. Our program offers:

  • Weekly company classes to refine technique, build artistry, and foster a sense of camaraderie among company members.
  • A focus on creating performance opportunities that simulate the professional dance environment, offering dancers a taste of what it’s like to be part of a working dance company.

Mission

The Natalia Mallory Contemporary Dance Company is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of professional dancers by providing a pre-professional experience that mirrors the rigor and creativity of a professional dance company. Our mission is to expose young dancers to the realities and demands of working in a dance company, preparing them for successful careers in concert dance, collegiate programs, and the commercial dance industry. Through comprehensive training, performance opportunities, and mentorship, we aim to equip our dancers with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to excel in the diverse world of dance.

Audition Date: Saturday August 17th
Location: Mallory Academy of Dance and Arts
Time: 10:00am to 11:30am
Must arrive no later than 9:30am to check-in and warm up
Ages: 13 and older (dancers are not required to be on pointe)
Invitations will be extended to younger dancers if needed for a performance
Dance Experience: classical ballet, modern and experience with contemporary styles
Bring to Audition: Head shot, resume, proof of training (enrollment records at another dance studio – 2 ballet, (if on pointe) 2 pointe and 1 modern/jazz or contemporary)
Audition Fee: $30 paid at the time of the audition.
Attire Leotard and tights – look professional. Hair pulled back into a bun. Bring leggings or black tights for a style change. Bring both flat and pointe shoes.
Company Contract: Keep up training – if technique and training fall, positions can be terminated.
Mandatory Commitment: Company class is required – once a week.

Rehearsals for performance are mandatory
Cost Associated to Participate: There are no entry fees.
There are no performance fees.
There may be costume fees associated to the annual performance
There will be a mandatory amount of tickets required sold
Choreography that will be taken to YAGP – all cost associated with comps is theirs
Every dancer is responsible to purchase the company warmups (t-shirt, sweatshirt)
